우선 간단하게 인증 올리겠습니다.
물론 선생님께 감사하다는 것을 표현하기 위해 수업 후기를 쓰는 것도 있지만, 혹시라도 저의 공부방법이 궁금하신 분들을 위해 저의 공부 방법을 올리겠습니다. 다만 사람마다 공부 방법이 다르기 때문에 저의 공부방법이 꼭 옳다고 할 수 없으니, 그냥 참고만 하시길 바랍니다^^.
우선 저는 영어 공부를 조금 오랫동안 해온 편입니다. 외고를 졸업했고, 영문 서적을 많이 사용하는 전공이기 때문에 영어에 항상 노출되어 왔었습니다. 그렇기 때문에 토스를 시작했을 때 영어가 어느 정도 익숙한 상태였습니다. 그렇기 때문에 영어가 익숙하지 않은 분들은 저의 공부방법이 오히려 해가 될 수 있다는 것을 사전에 말씀드리고 싶습니다.
저의 공부 방법의 핵심은 녹음, 녹음, 녹음, 녹음입니다.
저는 토스를 공부하기 위해서 가장 중요한 요소가 실전 감각을 익히는 것이라고 생각합니다. 그렇기 때문에 선생님께서 주신 다양한 문제들을 완벽하게 답변할 때까지 녹음했습니다. 대략 1000개 정도의 녹음파일들을 녹음했을 겁니다. 대부분은 중간에 실수해서 지우거나, 다시 들어보니 오글거려서 지웠습니다. 그래서 최종적으로 남아있던 녹음파일들은 대략 130개 정도였습니다.
앞서 말씀드렸다 시피 저는 영어가 다소 익숙한 상황이었기 때문에 Magic sentence(?)들을 외우지 않았습니다. Say선생님은 수업시간에 다양한 분야에 적합한 template들을 사용하시는데, 예를 들어서 economic template, experience template 등이 있습니다.
처음에는 큰마음을 먹고 모두 외워야겠다는 다짐을 했으나, 계획은 계획일 뿐....결과적으로 3개밖에 외우지 못했습니다. 그러나 녹음을 매우 많이 했기 때문에 Magic sentence 가운데 일부는 똑같진 않더라도 다소 비슷하게 사용할 수 있었습니다.
여기서 녹음의 또 따른 중요성에 대해 말씀드리겠습니다. 녹음을 하시면 임기응변 능력을 기를 수 있습니다. 원래 수많은 Magic sentence들을 달달 외웠다고 생각했는데, 막상 시험장에서 갑자기 조사 혹은 형용사가 하나라도 생각나지 않으면 머리가 백지상태가 되잖아요. 그렇기 때문에 Magic sentence들을 자신에게 맞춰야 한다고 생각합니다.
이 부분은 사실 선생님께서 동의하지 않을 수 있습니다. 선생님은 수업시간 도중에 계속 Magic sentence들을 달달 외워야 효력이 있다고 말씀하시거든요. 그런데 저는 임기응변 능력이 중요하다고 생각합니다. 공부할 때 완벽하게 외웠다고 생각해서 시험장에서 외운 문장들을 그대로 사용할 수 있다는 보장이 없거든요. 대학교에서 발표를 할 때 발표 내용을 달달 외웠는데, 갑자기 눈앞에 청중이 있고, 긴장하다 보니 달달 외운 발표 내용이 잘 기억나지 않은 현상과 유사하다고 생각합니다.
그러나 기본 template은 완벽하게 외웠습니다. 예를 들어서 2번 문제에 대해서 선생님은:

What I notice first~
과 같은 종류의 template을 사용하시는데, 이러한 기본 template은 모두 외웠습니다. 다만 5번 문제에 대해서는 수많은 대응방법들을 소개하기 때문에 수많은 대응 방법 가운데 대략6개 정도만 외웠습니다. 6개만 외워도 얼추 모든 상황에 껴 맞출 수 있었기 때문입니다.
인증에서 보다시피 제가 190점이잖아요. 즉, 아슬아슬하게 lvl.8을 맞았다는 것입니다. 그렇기 때문에 제가 어떻게 답변했는지 최대한 기억을 되살려내서 적어보겠습니다. lvl.8을 목표하시는 분들은 이정도 말하면 lvl.8 나올 수 있다고 참고하시면 됩니다.
문제 1:
잘못 읽거나, 막히거나 없이 읽었습니다. intonation도 넣도록 노력했습니다. 45초 준비기간 동안에 2번 읽었습니다.
문제 2:
This picture was taken indoors. What I notice first is 5 people sitting. In the foremost of the picture, I can see a man, who has dark-brown curly hair and is wearing glasses. He is wearing a black T-shirt and is using his laptop. The other four people are also doing something such as reading books or using their laptop. There is also a black seat. On the background of the picture I can see a brown-wooden wall. The overall atmosphere of this picture looks very serious. I believe that this place look like a typical library.
이렇게 말하고 대략 7~10초가 남음. 지옥 같은 시간이었음. “망했다. 토스 다시 봐야하나?”라는 생각이 들고, 나중에 제 음원을 확인하면서 땅을 치고 후회했습니다.
문제 3:
i) I use the convenience store 3 times a day. In the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. This is because there is a convenience store right in front my home and in front of the company I work.
ii) I would definitely choose healthy products to cheap products. This is because I recently take care a lot about my skin(^^). Therefore I rather choose healthier products to cheaper products.
iii) I definitely believe that convenience stores need to sell fresh products rather than just concentrate on the price. There are several reasons why I believe this way. Recently we are living in a very competitive society and therefore the price in every convenience store is low. Therefore the only way to gain a competitive advantage against other convenience stores is to provide fresher products. For this reason I believe that convenience stores need to concentrate on fresh products.

문제 6)
I definitely believe that there are a lot of disadvantages of always buying the state-of-the-art electronic products. There are several reasons why I believe this way.
First of all, the latest electronic devices are expensive.
In fact, the latest electronic devices are normally more expensive than older products.
For example, when I needed to buy a new cell phone, I had to pay 800 dollars for the new I-phone from apple(저 삼성 폰 씀. 단 한번 아이폰 써보지 않았습니다. 드립을 막 날립시다.).
Therefore, buying new electronic devices can be a huge financial burden.
Also, it is a waste of time.
To be specific, you need to spend a lot of time in order to figure out what kind of electronic devices were recently released.
As a matter of fact, you need to check magazines and search in the Internet to figure out about the latest electronic devices.
Since it is very expensive and since it takes a lot of time, I believe that there are more disadvantages of changing electronic devices often.
(여기서 최신기기를 사는 것이랑 기계를 자주 바꾸는 것이랑 다르지 않느냐라고 생각할 수 있습니다. 저도 말하면서 조금 느꼈습니다. 앗! 그러네..;;; 그런데 채점자가 그냥 기계를 자주 바꾸는 것이 최신 기계를 사는 것이라고 생각한 것 같습니다. 너무 깊이 생각할 필요 없었던 것 같습니다.)
간단하게 후기를 작성하려던 계획이 이렇게 길어졌습니다. 저의 답변을 보면 참 많은 template들이 섞여 있습니다. 사실 저는 해커스에서 토플도 했었는데, 토플 선생님들이 사용했던 template들도 있긴 합니다. 토플을 먼저 해서 습관을 버릴 수 없더라고여. 근데 Say 선생님 template으로도 충분히 가능하다는 것을 말씀드리고 싶습니다.
